At WHBC, we offer a variety of Discipleship Groups for all ages. We believe you will find a deep connection within our small groups and will grow in your personal with the Lord.
NURSERY-KINDERGARTEN (0-4 YEARS OLD)
"Praise Factory" Curriculum (Toddlers and School-Age)
Currently, we have three classes available for this age group: Bed Babies (birth-1 years old), Toddlers (2-3 years old), and School-age (4-5 years old). Each class is led by a minimum of two gifted teachers, whose focus is to shepherd the youngest "sheep" in our flock. All volunteers have been Child Protection trained and certified, and have completed and passed a background check.
The Toddlers and School-Age classes are utilizing "Praise Factory" curriculum, which focuses on teaching children the fundamental truths of God's Word in an easy-to-understand and age-appropriate way. Using Psalm 100:1 as the foundation, the curriculum seeks to draw out "noisy praise" from our children as they learn about who God is and what He has done. The curriculum is comprehensive, and can be used continuously for 12 years--meaning, if a child begins the curriculum as a toddler, he/she will "graduate" when the enter middle school. Over these 12 years, children will cover the entirety of the Old and New Testament, the local church, portions of church history, and missions/evangelism.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (K-5TH GRADE)
"Praise Factory" Curriculum
Beginning on January 5, there will be two classes (K-2 & 3-5) available for this age group, each led by two gifted teachers. All volunteers have been Child Protection trained and certified, and have completed and passed a background check. Utilizing a "rotation-based" classroom setup, each class will alternate time spent in each area. For example:
K-2nd grade (Bible lesson, verse memorization)
3rd-5th grade (Music, games, snack, etc.)
K-2nd grade (Music, games, snack, etc.)
3rd-5th grade (Bible lesson, verse memorization)
The Elementary class is utilizing "Praise Factory" curriculum, which further explores the depths of God's Word. Building on the foundation of toddler and preschool years, the curriculum moves a student deeper into Biblical truths and engages him/her in discussion and application.
YOUTH MINISTRY (6TH-12TH GRADE)
Old Testament/New Testament Overview
Currently, there are two classes available for this age group: Middle School (6th-8th grade), and High School (9th-12th grade). Each class is led by a minimum of two gifted teachers, whose focus is to teach and apply Biblical truths to the lives of our students. All volunteers have been Child Protection trained and certified, and have completed and passed a background check.
The Middle School and High School classes are not utilizing a specific curriculum. Instead, they are working through an overview of the Old and New Testaments. On Sunday evenings, Pastor Will is teaching a year-long series entitled, "Saved", which focuses on God's plan of redemption from Genesis to Revelation. On Sunday mornings, both classes will be delving deeper into this idea, with enhanced discussion and application of Bible truths.
Most adult classes (unless otherwise noted) are utilizing LifeWay curriculum.
